Have a drink in the garden or on the porch

Especially towards the later stages of the dementia disease, an important part of enhancing quality of life for the person with dementia is creating moments of joy. Elements from nature have shown to have a positive impact on well-being among persons with dementia. Sitting outside and enjoying a nice drink can give associations to that vacation feeling. Create a nice moment by asking the person to accompany you for a drink outside. Depending on the weather and season, adjust clothes and what to drink; enjoy a nice fall evening with a cup of cocoa and a blanket or a warm summer day with lemonade.
