Take a walk

Take a walk

Walking is a good source of exercise, pleasure, and independence that needs to be supported for as long as possible. It is free, it does not require specialist equipment, and distance and time can be varied to suit everyone. Many people living with dementia are capable of walking to (even in the) late stages of their illness. Maintaining physical function can reduce other health issues. Always remember to plan for resting during or after walking. Keep hydrated by drinking a glass of water before you leave or right after you return, or bring a bottle along with you.
